Babies are such a joy to photograph especially when they are itty bitty and new! As a specialist newborn photographer based in Charlotte NC I just love capturing those cute kissable: hands, feet, nose and toes. Newborns are best captured at 4-7 days old while they are still curled up in the fetal position and are heavy sleepers so we can pose them for maximum cuteness in special poses parents just love. The ‘newborn’ stage is for such a short space of time that we need to act quick to capture this gorgeous stage before the moment is gone!
My studio is kept warm, comfortable and inviting for both baby and Mom and Dad so the entire experience feels like a home away from home. We provide all the props, fabrics, bowls, head bows, hats, a baby changing table with wipes and diapers, and refreshments for Mom and Dad. All that you need to bring along is the basics for baby and plain, solid colored clothing for Mom and Dad (black shirts and jeans work best). Oh yes don’t forget an extra set of “going home” clothes just in case someone gets wet – I always say it’s not IF but WHEN someone gets surprised! Baby is best captured in their birthday suit just plain naked so don’t worry about outfits yet for your newborn.
As a specialist newborn photographer I advise my clients to schedule their newborn session while Mom is still pregnant to ensure the session takes place during the crucial 4-7 day mark. If however we miss the first week, don’t worry we can still capture your newborn up to 6 weeks; however we can’t guarantee those sleepy poses.
