Dance

I simply love dancing! With 15 years training and experience as a dancer in ballet, jazz, contemporary, freestyle, latin and tap, I feel I have the enthusiasm, passion and vision to capture the essence of dance…. a non-verbal story. My newest passion is figure skating and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed learning a new skill – it’s the closest thing to flying and happens to be a really cool experience (excuse the pun)! Dancing has been my passion since age 3 when I wore my first pair of ballet shoes, but really started when I learnt to walk. I’ve always had that ‘turn out duck waddle’ and liked to walk on my tip toes as a toddler.
As a classically trained RAD ballet dancer I’ve tried everything from ballet, jazz to ballroom. I got the groove in me and just feel the music in my bones! With an artistic eye and great instincts for the perfect moment, I feel my years of dance training have proven useful when it comes to capturing dancers in their element. It’s like I can feel it before it happens, anticipating the movement from grand jette to a barrel jump. From preparation to pointe us dancers just know.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with both amateur and professional dancers both in England and the United States such as the National Ballet Theatre (UK), Rambert Dance Company (UK) and dancers from the Juilliard school and Alvin Ailey company to name a few. It’s been an honor to have won a few photography awards with my dance images especially since it’s something I just do for the love! Most recently I had THE MOST fabulous experience training under world renown dance photographer, Lois Greenfield, in her New York studio.
Thank you to the wonderful dancers who lent their talent so I could have the honor of capturing it…
Edward Spots of the Ailey School http://www.AlvinAiley.org, Alex Karigan of Amy Marshall Dance Company http://www.amymarshall.com/, Alison Cook Beatty, John Eirich of Dusan Tynek Dance Theatre to name a few.
I’m always looking for something unique, the artistic and the thought provoking story to tell. Watch this space more dance projects coming soon…
