"Angels & Cherubs"

Once again we are proud to announce the Photo Lyrical 2010 Annual Charity Calendar project in support of our chosen charity 'Mothering Across Continents'. Last year we raised $6500 and the majority of the funds went to support the Woza Moya Children's Center project in South Africa. Co-funded by MAC, the Woza Moya Children's Center is the only early childhood development center in a valley of 6,000 people in the impoverished area of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. All proceeds through the 2010 calendar project by Photo Lyrical Photography will be used to expand on-going child development activities at Woza Moya.

Mothering Across Continents (MAC) (www.motheringacrosscontinents.org) is a 501c3 non-profit charity that began as an initiative to raise awareness of orphans and vulnerable children affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa. Today, it is a coalition of women catalysts with a global vision of conceiving, birthing and nurturing projects to change children's lives. Projects are underway in the most impoverished areas of South Africa, Rwanda, Sudan and Haiti.

Mimika Cooney, international award winning photographic artist and owner of Photo Lyrical, is proud to be associated with MAC and their efforts to support her country of birth, South Africa.

We are thrilled with the interest and excitement surrounding the calendar project in the family communities, especially since this is the third year we have created our calendar project – we are dedicated to holding this charity fundraiser every year! In 2009 our calendar project appeared five times in the local news. Our story featured in the Charlotte Observer newspaper twice, the Union County Weekly paper, the Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly and the University Weekly. Participating families were thrilled to see their own kids in print! This year we aim to attract the same amount of news coverage and support from local news mediums.

Theme "Angels & Cherubs"

For 2010 we have selected the theme "Angels & Cherubs" for children aged newborn to 12 years which will feature whimsical angelic images of local children as an inspiration of hope. The children are all local to the Charlotte area and quite possibly from your own neighborhood! We have a selection of angel wings and props to make this year’s theme simply adorable. Moms bring your kids a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt and we’ll provide the rest.

Once the images have been completed they will be uploaded to an online voting website for 7 days where supporters will pay $1 per vote. The winning image will appear on the cover of the calendar and receive a gift certificate worth $250 from our studio. We will have 500 calendars printed in time for the Christmas holidays for $10 each and going on the response we had last year will sell out fast! Calendars make wonderful stocking fillers and provide excellent exposure to our supporters as they hang in families homes for an entire year!

Studio photo sessions are being held on September 8th to September 11th. The $100 creation fee for the 30 minute session is being donated to MAC (your donation is tax deductable). We can accommodate a maximum of 2 children per session per family, additional children require an additional session & fee. We’re offering online appointment bookings so act now to reserve your preferred time slot (Saturday option available). Special prices on prints will be offered online for a limited time just in time for Christmas!

How to book: Click the ‘’Book Session’’ link above. From the drop down menu select your preferred date. Scroll down and select the number of calendars you would like to order. Select ‘’Continue to Step 2”. Important: Click your date of preference on the grey grid, the available slots will display on the right. Click on the ‘select’ button on your preferred time slot. You will be taken to a new page in ‘Step 3’. Input all your contact information (email address vital), add your cell phone number if you would like to receive an SMS appointment reminder. Click ‘Select Proceed to Payment’. New page will confirm your selections, click ‘Proceed to Checkout’. A new PayPal window will open, login to you PayPal account or use your credit or debit card. Once payment has been made you will receive confirmation of your booking. We will email you our Frequently asked questions and map to our studio.

We need your help!

Our project could not be possible without the generous help of our sponsors. Our sponsors help to cover the cost of printing our calendars so we can donate all the proceeds to the charity. Starting at just $100, sponsor messages will be designed to compliment the simplistic, upscale nature of the calendar. As a sponsor your business will be listed on your calendar month of choice, on the back cover, on an extra “thank you” page inside of the calendar, and on the Photo Lyrical website. Our first print run will contain 500 calendars and visibility of your brand will be for an entire year in local Charlotte homes! Calendar Quantities

Calendars will be available for pick up only from our retail pick up store, Belly Elan Maternity, from December 1st 2010. We are not offering a mailing option so make sure you order copies for your friends and family so you can pick up in time for Christmas (calendars make great stocking fillers!) Belly Elan is located in the Blakeney shopping center (corner or Ardrey Kell & Rea Roads, Charlotte).
