Real moms, real babies, real life.
Celebrate the beauty and miracle of pregnancy and be part of spreading the word about good maternal health practices. Over the next 6 months I will be designing and creating a 12 month calendar featuring real life Charlotte based pregnant moms proud enough to bare their bellies! Their newborn babies will also be included in their portraits once they are born, and the results will be artistically styled images worthy of being called art.
Our studio photo shoot will take place on March 4th at my studio. Chris Lanston, celebrity make-up artist, will be there to make all my pregnant model moms look absolutely gorgeous! Moms bare their bumps for beauty
Pregnant moms are proudly showing off their baby bumps in Charlotte’s own campaign for real beauty in support of our charity (info to be advised).
This annual calendar project is designed to celebrate the natural beauty of pregnancy while redefining the stereotype about the pregnant form. International award winning photographic artist, Mimika Cooney of Photo Lyrical Photography, is helping to change how pregnant Moms see and feel about themselves. Mimika, who has recently moved to Charlotte from England, is giving real Charlotte moms-to-be the opportunity to feel like stars as part of this 2009 calendar project.
The model Moms will have the opportunity of a star makeover by celebrity make-up artist, Chris Lanston, for the photo shoot at the Photo Lyrical studio in south Charlotte on March 4th. Chris will be appearing on a new reality TV program in the spring and before he leaves Charlotte for Miami he is donating his talents to this worthy cause.
The calendar project developed out of Mimika’s passion to create artistic fine art style images celebrating the natural beauty of pregnancy, and her desire to educate Moms about good practices for maternal health. Mimika says…

I get so excited to be able to help each Mom feel good about herself no matter what her shape, size, height, age or complexion. I want to show the stories of real moms and real babies that everyone can identify with. I am tickled pink to be part of helping with the education of good maternal practices and I see it as an honor to be part of saving the lives of babies - our future generation.’’
The aim of this project is create 2009 calendars that can be sold in various outlets in and around Charlotte, and all proceeds of the sale of each calendar will go toward supporting the charity. Sponsors are still sought to help make the project happen.
